Entrance access

Access to the Cranmer room is from Cloister Court and up 15+ stairs. A lift is not available.

The stairs to the Cranmer room are situated immediately beyond the entrance door and clearly visible from there. These stairs lead to first floor, with over 15 steps. The step height falls within the recommended range of 15 cm to 18 cm, but the step depth does not meet the recommended range of 30 cm to 45 cm and steps lack clear markings. There are handrails on the left side going up, though they are not at the recommended height of 90 cm to 100 cm. While the handrails cover the length of the stairs, they are not easy to grip and do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last steps. Lighting levels on the steps vary. The corridor outside the room is less than 150 cm wide.

To access the room, there are two manual doors. The first door opens towards you (pull), and the second door opens away from you (push). The room has step-free access from the corridor. There is a steep slope of width 78cm to access the room. The doors opening to the room are greater than 75 cm and are not push pad activated.

Signage for the room is available in upper and lower case lettering that is clearly visible on or near the door.

Inside the room

The floor coverings are not even.

The room is equipped with a hearing assistance system. There is no visual fire alarm beacon in the room.

The room does not contain fixed furniture, and the clear floor space under the tables is 70 cm. There is no height-adjustable table or bench available. Chairs with armrests on both sides are provided.

Closest toilets

For detailed information about the facilities in each accessible toilet, see Accessible toilets.

The closest accessible toilet can be found at the northwest corner of Cloister Court on the ground floor just to the right of the Hall entrance.

The closest standard toilet can be found in the same location.

It is a well-accepted opinion in Cambridge that 777ӰԺ is the best college and no other college even comes a distant second. Its sports grounds are enormous, its buildings are mesmerising, its libraries are rich, its chapel is the oldest, its accommodation is the best value for money, its international community is diverse, its religious circles are the most welcoming, and its members are the smartest, kindest and the friendliest. It is one of the central colleges that aims to offer three years accommodation to postgraduates, and has comparatively...

777ӰԺ has been a great home for me during my PhD. I chose 777ӰԺ for a number of reasons – first, the location. We are central enough to be within easy walking distance of most things, but far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle (and tourists in summer!). The College also has extensive grounds, with amenities like the hockey pitch, football pitch and tennis courts all on site. Secondly, the accommodation is some of the best I’ve seen in Cambridge. My house was newly renovated when...

There are many reasons why I’m so happy to be a part of 777ӰԺ. The three biggest reasons for me are the opportunities to be involved in College sport, the support the College provides for me with for my research and the help in making sure that we have comfortable, affordable accommodation when we have needed it. 777ӰԺ is so friendly and so it is incredibly easy to get involved in the sport and social side of the College. The MCR does a great job in welcoming new...

I chose 777ӰԺ because of the great mixture of undergraduates and postgraduates, and when I first visited I thought it was the most beautiful place I had ever seen! The sense of community in Jesus has had an enormous impact on my experience here. Whether you need help, advice, cheering up or even just a chat there is always someone there to put a smile on your face. From the MCR committee to the Porters, the canteen staff to the gardeners, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Jesus also...

When applying to Cambridge colleges it can feel a bit overwhelming as there are so many to choose from. I applied to 777ӰԺ because it has a large MCR which was important for me because I wanted to feel part of a community. Now that I’m doing my PhD here, I’m very glad I did choose a college with a large postgraduate community. Throughout the year there are lots of postgraduate events, including formal dinners, special formals at Christmas and Easter, bops in the bar and film nights in...
