Announcing our first alumni volunteer of the year 2024

Earlier this year we announced the introduction of our new Alumni Volunteer of the Year Award, to celebrate a selfless alum who led the way in their volunteering for the College over the 2023-2024 academic year.

This exciting new Award looks to recognise a selfless alum who has:

  • contributed extensively to the development of 777ӰԺ and the pursuit of its mission over the academic year
  • made a tangible and positive impact on the Jesuan community
  • embodied the College’s values and inspired others with their generosity
  • committed to volunteering for at least one cause supporting the College.

We are delighted to announce that Mohan Yogendran (1982, Economics) is the winner of the inaugural Alumni Volunteer of the Year Award.

Mohan has had a long and vibrant association with 777ӰԺ, from his student days — when he played piano in venues all over Cambridge and was both a Committee member of the Sri Lankan Society and an active member of the Indian Society — through to countless visits in just the last couple of years. As a committed mentor, Mohan has been a rich and generous resource for current students, running CV and LinkedIn clinics (along with one-to-one coaching sessions), conducting mock interviews and participating on the Careers Committee. He has been a pillar of support for the Careers Programme since its inception and a beacon on , our mentoring and networking platform, where he has successfully mentored several students — some of whom have in turn become mentors themselves. Please look out for Mohan — and do consider how you yourself might benefit and contribute within our alumni networks on

Globally active as a business leader, Mohan  and was , for which he currently serves as an international executive recruiter. Having also taken a Masters in Race Relations at the University of Bristol, Mohan’s academic and professional life has been consistently engaged with corporate diversity and developing markets (most notably in Africa and the Caribbean) all over the world.

We were pleased to be able to celebrate Mohan’s achievements and generosity when he returned recently to receive his award from the Master. They were joined with Sarah Richey and Clelia McElroy from the Careers team, current student Reem Abbas and alumnus Amatey Doku. You can read more about the mentoring partnership between Mohan and Amatey here.

Jesus members past and present are lucky to be supported by the time, creativity and expertise of our alumni. The Alumni Volunteer of the Year award is an important new venture for highlighting outstanding individuals within this already world-leading community, and we look forward to recognising more and more such individuals in the coming years.
